Dormition of the Virgin Mary
Greek Orthodox Church
Protopresbyter Fr. Alex Michalopulos

  • Explanation of Holy Week

  • Reverence during Holy Communion
The priest is not allowed to converse while giving Holy Communion, and the people receiving should also not be speaking, except to give their first name to the priest. Please call the Office during the week if you have something to ask to say to Fr. Alex. Thank you.

  • All Visitors are welcome!
All visitors are welcome to attend church services at our parish. Although Holy Communion is reserved for baptised and confirmed Orthodox Christians, everyone is invited to receive the "Andithoron" blessed bread (distributed at the end of the service) which is not a sacrament, but is a reminder of the 'agape feast' (feast of love) that followed worship in the early Church. We hope that you will return often to worship with us, to grow in Christ and in our Orthodox Faith. If you are an Orthodox Christian and new to the city, please contact the church office to introduce yourself and make an appointment to meet Fr. Alex Michalopulos (613-225-8016 ext 222 or email church@helleniccommunity.com).
