 | Apokries Masquerade Dance organized by O.H.A.A. in association with G.O.Y.A. |  |  | | O.H.A.A. is hosting an Apokries Masquerade Dance in association with G.O.Y.A. on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 @ 7 pm at the Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre. They are planning a fun dinner & dance event for the entire family. Costumes are strongly recommended; door prize, prizes for best costumes and buffet dinner are included. Tickets: $50/Adult, $15/Youth 16 and under, Free/Children under 2.  | Arcadian Association – Apokries Luncheon |  |  | | The Arcadian Association “Theodoros Kolokotronis” is holding its annual Apokries Luncheon at the Banquet Hall on MeatFare Sunday, February 19th at 12:30 p.m. Members of the association will prepare the traditional kapama meal, and there will also be a raffle draw with many prizes to be won. Tickets are $22 for Adults and $10 for Children 10 years of age & under. Ο Σύλλογος Αρκάδων «Θεόδωρος Κολοκοτρώνης» διοργανώνει το ετήσιο αποκριάτικο γεύμα του, την Κυριακή 19 Φεβρουαρίου, 12:30 μ.μ., στο Κοινοτικό Κέντρο.  | HCO Scholarships |  |  | | The Hellenic Community of Ottawa announces the following two annual scholarships:
a) The Jeanne Rosemary Georgiles Foundation Scholarship. The foundation provides two scholarships of $1,000 each to students who have entered University from High School this year.
b) The George Alexopoulos Scholarship provides two scholarships of $1000 each to outstanding graduate University students.
The application deadline for both scholarships is February 15, 2012. All recipients must be members of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa. Detailed information and application forms are available at the Community and Church offices (613-225-8016 ext. 221 or 222) and shortly from the HCO website.

 | 2012 Parnassos Award recipient: James D. Georgiles |  |  | | The recipient of the 2012 Parnassos Award is Mr. James D. Georgiles. The Parnassos Award for significant contributions to the promotion of Hellenic culture and civilization is presented annually in association with the Parnassos Annual Dinner / Dance. Mr. Georgiles was born in the United Kingdom. During World War II, he served in the British navy and the Greek army in the Middle East and Southern Italy. Mr. Georgiles has been a member of Parnassos since its establishment and served as editor of the Parnassos Bulletin for several years. As reflected in his essays (e.g. The Olympic Story, Greek Women and Philanthropy, Bank of Canada Favours Greek Currency), he has personified the Parnassos mission of striving to promote the Greek culture and civilization within the Canadian society. In 2005, Mr. Georgiles established a foundation providing two scholarships annually to Hellenic Community of Ottawa students entering first-year university.

 | Parnassos Hellenic Cultural Society - Dinner/Dance |  |  | | The Parnassos Hellenic Cultural Society of Ottawa’s 37th annual Dinner/Dance, celebrating the centennial of Thessaloniki’s liberation, will be held at the Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre on Saturday, February 11th. Cocktails at 6:30 and Dinner at 7:30 p.m., with live music by Vassilis Galatis.  | Youth Outdoor Soccer - Registration begins |  |  | | OHAA is kicking off its 9th season of Youth Soccer. The program has enjoyed a large participation from the Hellenic Community and its friends and continues to expand. Early registration begins Saturday, February 4th from 9:15a.m. to 10:00a.m. at the Hellenic School (D. Roy Kennedy P.S., 919 Woodroffe Ave.). Early registration fees apply up to February 27th.  | Ladies Group of the Senior Citizens Assoc. - Σύλλογος Ηλικιωμένων Οττάβας - Τμήμα γυναικών |  |  | | The Ladies’ group of the Senior Citizens Association meets twice monthly: on the second Tuesday & on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the HCO Seniors Centre. All ladies (young and older) are welcome to join in this interesting and welcoming social group.
Τα μέλη του τμήματος γυναικών του Συλλόγου Ηλικιωμένων Οττάβας συναντώνται κάθε δεύτερη και τελευταία Τρίτη του μήνα, από τις 5.00-8.00 μ.μ. στην Εστία Ηλικιωμένων. Προσκαλούνται όλες οι ενδιαφερόμενες κυρίες (νέες και μη) να συμμετάσχουν στις συναντήσεις αυτές.

 | Youth Soccer - Indoor Development 2012 |  |  | | Ottawa Hellenic Athletic Association (O.H.A.A.) Soccer Development Programs began on January 8th and run until April 29th. The sessions are open to players wishing to improve their skills or preparing for competitive try-outs in the spring.
