Hellenic Community of Ottawa

Our journey has begun! We are the National Capital's only Greek folklore dance group!  

    Proudly representing the Hellenic Community of Ottawa, the goal of the Odyssey Dance Troupe is to cultivate knowledge of Hellenic traditions through traditional dance, music, and song.  With our weekly lessons, and our enrichment opportunities through workshops and conferences, we not only educate our dancers of their rich folkloric heritage, but foster a genuine appreciation of their past.  As a result, our performances are aimed to inform the members of our own community, as well as the greater public, through a historic visual journey. 

    The Odyssey Dance Troupe has appeared at numerous multicultural events throughout the National Capital region, and the province of Ontario.  Performances consistently focus on a specific area of Greece, while enhancing the authenticity by wearing regional traditional costumes.  

    We host weekly practices that focus on a select group of regions to provide an increased focus on a particular dancing style.  Our current areas of focus are the North-East Aegean Islands, Thrace (Metaxades), Crete, and the Dodecanisa. As an inclusive group of individuals, we consist of 25 dancers, musicians, and vocalists of various levels of experience and backgrounds. Each is an integral part of the greater whole and Odyssey is fortunate to benefit from their enthusiasm and dedication. The Odyssey Dance Troupe is under the direction of Mr. Christos Pantieras.
