Parents and Guardians of the Hellenic School of Ottawa

We are pleased to inform you of the recently created Hellenic School Operations Committee (HSOC), put in place by the 2007-2008 Council of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa. Our mandate, in accordance with the Hellenic Community of Ottawa, consists of duties and responsibilities which ultimately act in preserving and promoting the Greek language in the youth of our Community.  

At this time, we will begin with a review of the current elementary school program and assess potential changes to the 2009-2010 school year. We will revisit the objectives of the past and present in order to determine how to approach the challenges of the future. This includes establishment of an appropriate curriculum, re-assessment of textbooks and other teaching material, and review of the hours of operation. The HSOC has already had its inaugural meeting and subcommittees were formed to begin the evaluation process.

In addition to the efforts of our committee members, we require your input. Therefore please forward us your comments, concerns, and ideas by bringing these to our attention, preferably by email, to the Chair of the HSOC, at «chairhsoc@gmail.com», or by communicating with one of our committee members. 

We look forward to on-going feedback regarding language promotion throughout the year. Any submitted requests will be addressed at upcoming school committee meetings, which take place on an approximately monthly basis.

Βρισκόμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να σας πληροφορήσουμε ότι κατά τη θητεία του προηγούμενου Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Κοινότητας (2007-2008) συστάθηκε Σχολική Επιτροπή Ελληνικού Σχολείου Οττάβας (ΣΕΕΣΟ) με στόχο την ανάληψη ευθυνών και τη διεκπεραίωση ενεργειών που αποβλέπουν στη διατήρηση και προαγωγή της ελληνικής γλώσσας στη νεολαία της Κοινότητάς μας.

Η Επιτροπή, αρχικά, θα ασχοληθεί με την ανασκόπηση του προγράμματος του Δημοτικού Σχολείου και τον προσδιορισμό πιθανών αλλαγών για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2009-2010. Θα επανεξετάσει τους στόχους στο παρελθόν και στο παρόν για να καθορίσει τις προκλήσεις του μέλλοντος. Αυτό σημαίνει τη δημιουργία κατάλληλης διδακτέας ύλης, αξιολόγηση βιβλίων και άλλου διδακτικού υλικού και ώρες διδασκαλίας. Η ΣΕΕΣΟ πραγματοποίησε ήδη την πρώτη της συνάντηση κατά την οποία σχηματίσθηκαν υποεπιτροπές η σύσταση των οποίων έχει ως εξής:

Εκτός από τις προσπάθειες των μελών της Επιτροπής χρειαζόμαστε και τη δική σας γνώμη γι’ αυτό σας παρακαλούμε να μας στείλετε τα σχόλια, τις ανησυχίες και τις ιδέες σας στη διεύθυνση «chairhsoc@gmail.com», ή να επικοινωνήσετε με ένα από τα μέλη της Επιτροπής και τώρα αλλά και καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του έτους. Οι ιδέες/γνώμες/σχόλια που θα παίρνουμε θα συζητιώνται κατά τις μηνιαίες συναντήσεις της Επιτροπής.

Αυτή είναι μία ευκαιρία να βοηθήσετε στη διατήρηση και προαγωγή της Ελληνικής γλώσσας στα παιδιά της Κοινότητάς μας. Θα περιμένουμε τη συμμετοχή σας.
