What is the Hellenic School Cultural Program?
This program will be offered to all children attending the Hellenic School of Ottawa. It will have an emphasis on conversational skills and spoken Greek, as well as incorporation of Greek culture, mythology, history and geography, and may include singing of songs, performance of shows, verbal expression through art and music.

When will the Cultural Program begin?
The initial session of the cultural program will be comprised of 16 Saturday sessions from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, commencing September 19th 2009 to January 23rd 2010 and the second session will begin on Feb 6th 2010. This is a voluntary program that will complement the existing Hellenic School language program.

How will the children benefit from the Cultural Program?
The program is meant to provide a fun learning environment for children. Instructors will emphasize spoken language skills and through music, theatre, dance and other cultural expression. The use of songs, dance, theatrical themes will be used encourage the children speak and converse in the Greek language. The goal is create an interactive environment for the children to practice their Greek language skills. Children will be placed in age appropriate groups and activities.

How much does it cost to enroll?
$50 for 16 sessions Fee for Hellenic Community of Ottawa members $100 for 16 sessions Fee for Non Members

The re-enrollment form is available on the back of this information sheet. Please complete and return to your child’s teacher at Greek school or to the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.
