Welcome to the School of
Traditional Greek Dance!

What a fantastic year we have planned for students and parents alike!

The Dance School is focusing on keeping tradition alive by way of dancing programs from all parts of Greece, learning and singing music and appreciating costumes and heritage.

Many individuals work hard to make Greek Dance enjoyable and interesting.

The Dance School is comprised of six knowledgeable teachers, a Director and Community Liaison. Registration has grown significantly in the past few years and we hope to meet the ever growing needs and make this one of the best years yet.

We have included some general rules and responsibilities for both students and parents, contact information for the teachers and some important dates of which to be aware.

  1. Bring your child(ren) 10 minutes before class is to start to avoid any delays.

  2. Be timely in the pick-up of your child(ren) as there is often a class afterwards.

  3. No gum chewing or eating is allowed.

  4. Equip your child(ren) with a water bottle as kitchen facilities are closed and it does get hot in the rooms at times.

  5. If your child(ren) have a class in the Church Hall, use the link through the Banquet Centre for drop-offs and pick-ups.

  6. Wear proper running shoes and clothing to class.

  7. Be mindful and respectful of other children and teachers.

  8. Have fun!

Training Group for Odyssey Dance Troupe

The Odyssey Dance Troupe, the Hellenic Community of Ottawa’s front line performing troupe, is hosting an open call for individuals with a keen, and serious, appreciation for Greek folklore.

Rationale
Training Group will provide dancers the opportunity to learn the current repertoire performed by Odyssey by providing to them a highly focused and guided environment. Members will be given the foundation they require in order to ease the transition into an established and proven repertoire.

Members
We are gearing our approach towards dancers who are serious about learning Greek folklore and who have the initiative and motivation to eventually transition into the performing group. We are also accepting members who are equally committed about learning Greek folklore, but cannot necessarily commit to the demands of a performing group for the time being. Training group members must be no less than 17 years of age (as of December 31st, 2007). Previous dancing experience is preferred, although not necessary. Vocal and/or musical talent is a bonus!

Training
An information session about policies and procedures will be held on Sunday, September 9th, 2007 from 7 to 8:30 pm (Church Basement). Training Group will then begin the 16th of September and practice weekly thereafter, for two hours, every Sunday evening from 6-8 pm for this season.

Instructors: Mr. Manos Kardaras, Ms. Theodora Koulouris, Ms. Katerina Pagiatakis
