GENERAL INFORMATION

HOPE is a playgroup for families with young children (newborn – 5 years) that are Greek Orthodox and Members of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.
The objective of HOPE is to lead our young children into a living, active relationship with Jesus Christ and our Orthodox Faith. The events are all age appropriate allowing plenty of opportunity for free and structured activities as well as excellent social interaction for the adults.

The group meets every Tuesday morning from 9:30 am – 11:30 am in the Church basement. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. We encourage the use of the Greek language. Please feel free to read short stories and sing songs in Greek, as well as basic conversation.
The Playgroup is run by volunteers, and we ask that everyone sign up for Kitchen Duty or Craft Duty.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

$74 /family for PAID Hellenic Community Members
$148 /family for NON-PAID Hellenic Community Members

Method of payment is cash, or cheque payable to: Hellenic Community of Ottawa. Membership to the Community can be paid at time of registration.

The Hellenic Community supports all the youth groups under the umbrella of the Church financially with an annual budget, which allows the fee to be as minimal as possible. All incoming monies go towards the purchase of snacks, juices, new toys, craft supplies, special guests and field trips as needed throughout the year.

TIME SCHEDULE (approximately)

9:30 - 10:25	Free Play
10:25 - 10:30	Clean up Toys and Wash hands for snack time
10:30 - 10:45	Snack Time (nut-free snack and juice provided)
10:45 - 10:50	Clean up of snack table, children assemble on the carpet with mats (tambourine signal)
10:50 - 11:10	Circle time
11:10 - 11:25	Craft Time
11:25 - 11:30	Final Clean up (stacking of chairs &cleaning up after craft)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Since this is an Orthodox Christian Playgroup, the children are taught to make the sign of the cross before snacks are on the table.  All adults are asked to help the children with this.
  
  
• If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday with Playgroup, please let the directors know and you can provide the snack for that day (nut free of course).
  
  
• Please do not bring your child to Playgroup with a cold or fever, as it may be contagious not only to the children, but to any pregnant women.
  
  
• All snacks for adults and children MUST BE NUT FREE to protect children with life-threatening allergies.
  
  
• Each adult is responsible for his or her child’s behavior, whereabouts and well being at all times.  Our HOPE playgroup does not take any responsibility for children, as this is a parent-supervised group.
  
  
• Remember to sign in every time you attend.
  
  
• Enjoy the opportunity to relax with the children and your friends…..and to make new friends!
  
  
• Remember the success of our Playgroup means the total support, interest and participation of its members.
